I caught that interview with Fran Lebovitz last week and loved her frankness. Your book festival sounded wonderful. Our usual event at the end of Perth Festival wasn't on last year for unknown reasons (financial? political?) and I usually volunteer and get to hear all the amazing speakers so I really missed it.
I’m sorry to hear you missed out on having a book festival. They are so stimulating. I could hardly sleep when I got home.
I was listening to an interview with Marian Keyes recorded at the Margaret River Writers Festival and I thought it sounded cool. Wouldn’t it be great to go to book festivals all over the world?
So cool that Sydney has a writer’s festival. You make it sound like a lot of fun. Fran Lebovitz is definitely an original. It’s interesting that she’s at this event yet is famous for having writer’s block! Luckily no problem with speaking her mind though!
To be fair, Fran was on a talking tour and not part of the Writers’ Festival, so she’s allowed to have writer’s block. Sorry if that was confusing! She’s definitely good at talking!
Hello, Marg! This is my first experience reading your Book Chat, and I am so glad to be here. Thank you for a lovely, lively post. And for making me want to try Korean Fried Chicken. All the best! -Marian
I love Fran, she’s one of the smartest people on the planet.
