Sorry to read this after Christmas greetings were in order! I hope your Yule was merry, Marg! The breakfast spread sounds very tantalizing, as does the book you recommend. I need some pleasant diversion—both in literature and food!😉
I have a lot of sympathy with your dealings with hot weather in December as California can definitely veer into the red zone even in winter. Lately, though, we’re coping with what are known as atmospheric rivers, huge amounts of rain in a short amount of time. Weather extremes are becoming the norm everywhere unfortunately.
Looking forward to joining you for the book club in January. Hope I figure out the link and the correct time this go round!
Wishing a happy, healthy New Year to you and your family!
Someone asked me recently when was my favourite time to read and I said I like to read first thing in the morning and last thing at night. And in the afternoon, if I can possibly manage it.
Thanks for reading Book Chat. I appreciate your support.
Merry Christmas, Margaret, from cold (but not really snowy) Boston, US! Looking forward to January's book club. Thanks for your newsletter -- it's always fun to see and hear what someone in another part of the world is reading, eating, doing.
It would be so much fun to be somewhere cold for Christmas, even if it doesn't snow. Will you be staying home, or do you travel at Christmas?
Years ago I had a couple of Christmases in London, but my flat was cold and draughty, so it wasn't that much fun. One year we were invited to a posh house for Christmas lunch and I enjoyed that immensely because they had central heating AND a fire.
I hope it's warm and bright, whatever you are doing. Thanks for reading Book Chat, I'm looking forward to book club too.
Hello again. Just reporting that I picked up Welcome to Murder Week at the library, and it was indeed a fun, quick read. Thanks for suggesting it! Now, onto H is for Hawk.
Regarding snow -- we had a very light coating for Christmas in Boston, and our first (light, fluffy) shovelable snow this past weekend. Lots of cold temperatures are coming in for our New Year's week ahead. I do appreciate central heating and replacement windows!

I didn’t realise it could be warm in California in winter. That really surprises me, but the weather is crazy these days. Or maybe it always has been.
I will definitely send you a link for book club, so don’t worry.
That's what I love about summer, the excuse to lie on your bed and read away the afternoon. Not that I don't do this all year round lol.
Thanks for your interesting newsletter. I look forward to it.

Snow! I can only imagine how pretty it must look.
I’m glad you enjoyed Murder Week.
