I love the idea of swapping them or giving them away for someone else to enjoy. Unfortunately, the one we did had three pieces missing. We think the dog ate them. We managed to retrieve one that he chewed and flatten it out, but the others are probably buried in the garden. They love cardboard for some reason.
Happy New Year to you too Ruth. I heard someone say that The Correspondent is a book you can recommend to just about anyone and I think that's true. It has wide appeal, especially for people who love writing and receiving letters (and emails). I know emails aren't quite the same, but I do love hearing from people I care about. Sometimes I scroll through my inbox looking for an email from a 'real person'.
I agree the book club book is interesting and quite challenging in places. Look forward to chatting about it.
I still haven't been able to get any of these books from the 3 libraries I belong to. The Correspondent is especially elusive so obviously lots of people have read about it in the "Best of" lists.
I think you are 100% correct about The Correspondent. I managed to snaffle a copy from the library when it first came out (it was just sitting there on the shelf minding its own business), but it's very popular now and hard to get. I'm so sorry you can't get Loved and Missed. You would love it.
I am also a big fan of jigsaw puzzles…in fact, I have so many of them that I need to swap or give away some…it is a terrible burden 😆

I read The Correspondent and loved it. It did make me nostalgic for the days of letter writing. Emails and texts just don’t cut it.
H Is For Hawk is very unusual and I look forward to hearing what others have to say about it at the book club.
Your Christmas gathering looked like fun. I like the idea of a communal jigsaw puzzle, though I’m not particularly good at them.
Happy New Year, Marg!

I just recommended it to a friend, and my mother-in-law just recommended it to me! I guess it really is popular!
