I loved The Eights and have recommended it to several people, a great combination of historical fact and fictional characters. I have just powered through Before you knew my name, in a weekend which is fast reading for me. I thought it was an excellent and original read but could have been tied up a bit quicker at the end, but then I think that about many books. However, I adored Lonely Mouth right to the very end.
My Anzac biscuits (made by the girls) turned out really well.
I’m glad you enjoyed Before You Knew My Name. I would like to read her next book. I’ve just picked up a Siri Hustvedt book from the library (What I Loved). Have you read any of her books? This is my first.

I finally bought Wild Dark Shore after being unable to get a copy through Libby. Sadly, I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet and forgot to bring it with me on our current travels. I thought I’d try to check in to the book club just to say hello, but I believe the time would be 1:30 in the morning in Paris on May 1. I might actually be awake because my internal clock is nine hours out of whack, but my husband would be less than thrilled!

Hi Marg - thanks so much for the list of recommended books in the book chat!! It’s very timely as I’m looking for some good reads other than my usual favourite authors. I’ve just finished ‘The Paris Agent’ by Kelly Rimmer. I’m a big fan of hers and enjoy her style of storytelling although they are often sad in nature. By contrast I’m also reading a book by Ben Stevenson as I think he’s hilarious and witty. Looking forward to Fridays Bookclub catch up. Have a great day 😊
Hi Sal! I like Kelly Rimmer too, but agree they are sometimes a bit sad, so it’s good you have a Ben Stevenson book so you have a balanced diet! 😂
I just picked up a new Elly Griffiths book (the second in her time travelling detective series). The main character is a middle fifties woman with bright red hair and I loved the first one. It’s light but well written. Perfect for a comfort read.
