My favourite read this year was Stone Yard Devotional (Charlotte Wood) - I'm sorry she didn't win the Booker but at least it was nominated. Other high scorers were Standard Deviation (Katherine Heiny) and The Skeleton House (Katherine Allum). Of those you nominate, I have only read 2 but have them on my request list at the library. With everyone publishing their favourite 2024 reads, my TBR list gets longer and longer.
Thanks for sharing your favourite books. I enjoyed all those titles, including The Skeleton House, which you recommended. I have a wonderful TBR for next year and I really can't wait to get started. In the meantime, the stack of books I got from the library just before Christmas continues to languish while I watch rubbish on telly and take frequent naps.
I also loved Margo’s Got Money Troubles this year- thanks for the recommendation, it was a real highlight. The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley was fantastic, and I also adored My Brilliant Sister by Amy Brown, Anita de Monte Laughs Last, The Husbands, and Green Dot by Madeline Grey.
I also loved The Husbands and The Ministry of Time. Thanks for the other recommendations, I’ll add them to my TBR. Always keen to know what you’ve loved.
Merry Christmas, Marg! I hope the holiday was all that you hoped it would be!
I’m touched to be mentioned among your favorite foodie newsletters. Thank you for your generosity, for so many excellent book recommendations over the years and for the international book club you started.
