I love soups year-round and to add to yours regarding fresh veggies in the frig...I use the bits of any, drop in low sodium chicken broth, and seasonings, cook soft, puree, and add a bit of whipping cream if you like. Great way to use up odds and ends. Did not think of frying chick peas. Great idea!

Cream! Yum! I think you are supposed to bake the chickpeas in the oven, but I'm usually too hungry for that.

Hi Marg, Thanks for the chat. I will endeavour to catch The Quiet Girl, I do like movies similar to that style. Small things like these looks enticing too and I love the chickpea addition to your soup, we had our first soup of the year tonight actually, lentil and veg. Thanks again.

Yes the rainy weather makes me want to make soup instead of salad. My sister watched The Quiet Girl but it didn’t have subtitles (not sure why) so she missed some of the dialogue.

I don’t think I’ve ever really heard people speaking Irish before. It’s a lot more Scandinavian sounding than I realised. Having said that, you can probably work out what’s going on without closed captions.

Thanks, Marg, I loved the book club meeting and will come again! What fun to share reactions with book lovers in the other hemisphere. You really did not seem upside down to me!

Again, so sorry to miss the inaugural meeting of your book club. Hoping to be at the next one in June if I can.

Thanks as always for your recommendations and recipes. I plan to read both Claire Keegan books and see the film. I’m also a fan of making soup from what’s in the fridge, but I’ve never tried adding crispy chickpeas as a topping. Will definitely give that a try soon!😋

I can't wait to watch the film, looks fantastic!

The film is very quiet and probably not to everyone’s taste but I think you will love it. I forgot to mention that a lot of it is subtitled because they are speaking Irish. It’s wonderful.

I will have access to it here starting April 4 on Apple TV…. Can’t wait, looks wonderful. Also just began reading lessons in chemistry!

Excellent. I hope you enjoy Lessons in Chemistry. Let me know what you think. I heard someone say they were the only person in the world who didn't like it, so I guess it's not to everyone's taste, which is fine.
