I enjoyed The Husbands! I'm finding myself drawn to surreal/fantastical plots lately, and this one captured a lot of realistic truths in a fresh and sometimes funny way.
I agree it’s a really fun book but makes you think as well. A perfect combination. I think the Brits are good at this genre which I like call smart/funny. Does it have a name?
I love the premise of keeping a store of spare husbands in the attic. I’m afraid this book might be a perilous read for longtime marrieds like myself, but I’m intrigued just the same. Definitely in need of humorous diversion from the news these days—books and cooking shortcuts for yummy-sounding rice dishes are just the ticket. Thanks, Marg. I always enjoy your newsletter!
I’m afraid we are probably stuck with the husbands we’ve got! Mine is mostly a good egg, but I wish he would put his wine glass in the dishwasher a bit more frequently.
I agree the world is a mess and we need to find joy and moments of peace wherever we can. Xx
I read The Husbands for book club a couple of months ago and I loved the premise, though the process got tiring after a while for me, but I persisted and appreciated the ending. I’m looking forward to the author’s future works!
Yes the process was tiring and I may have read the middle a bit too quickly (just saying) but I also think she got very tired of the whole situation as well. I also loved the ending. I read that the author also designs games, which made sense to me. She’s obviously a creative thinker. I hope she writes another book too.
yes!! she is a game designer, she even has a mini game “husband generator” on her website for this book! our book club was able to chat with her over Zoom and I was fascinated by her thought process!

Wow, that sounds awesome. How fabulous to chat to her. I would love that.
Ooh I have Husbands on my audible. Might need to bump it up my list!
It’s super fun.
